Drawing and painting at an early age, Diana can't remember when she wasn't an artist. A Business College graduate, she retired from dental office administration in 1996 to purse her love for art. Self-taught and working in oil and acrylic for many years, she took a new approach, replacing brushes with palate knives in oils and added watercolor and pastel to her art mediums. Experimenting with pastels, she "fell in love" with this medium and became fascinated with creating works capturing the spectacular sky and discovered that working with the pastel medium, her pieces became strikingly photorealistic. She has an unconscious attraction to blue; therefore, most of her pieces capture the spectacular sky cloud formations and the beautiful sea.
Recognized by many well-known jurors in local, regional, and national level juried competitions, Diana has been awarded numerous place and purchase awards for her pastels. With eighteen solo shows, three duo shows to her credits, she additionally completed two commissioned wall murals. She was selected for the Best of State and National Artists and Artisans Juried Book Series 2005 receiving an Honorable Mention for one of her pastels. Diana instructs art through Wake Tech Community College Senior Community Service Program throughout the semesters, conducts workshops in pastels at Jerry's Artarama, and teaches pastels at Jordan Hall in Cary.
