My father’s passion was woodworking and music, and my mother was a writer. Summers were spent at my grandfather’s farm, where he taught me art and crafts. Years later, I attended the Kansas City Art Institute and became a professional designer and married a photographer. Together, we started a studio in Westport, CT that was recognized as being the first creative studio to embrace digital illustration, design and photography. Today, as an artist, I find myself still approaching my work with the same discipline I did as a design professional. Many of my pieces are illustrative, they often tell a story to the viewer. Each piece or series I create is clearly unique, many pieces begin from my sketchbook as I draw from my imagination. Some of my artwork plays on positive and negative space due to my background in graphic design. Other work may be influenced by different mediums, colors, and sizes of canvas or creating my digital drawings. Some are influenced by the creativity or discussions of my art students. Then there are events that have impacted my life that I use. I hope you find as much enjoyment in the creativity of my pieces and variety of styles as I did creating them.
