“I love watercolor’s transparencies, layering possibilities and versatility. I challenge myself to achieve boldness and at the same time a delicacy in my paintings.”
I was raised in a small town in upstate New York and encouraged by my mom, a talented painter, to explore my interest in art. In college I painted in oil and got my degree in Art Education - which got me started on a 29 year career in teaching. While working full time and raising two daughters I tried acrylic painting and printmaking, did illustration work, and after many years returned to my passion, watercolor painting. I see watercolor as a versatile way to paint because it offers opportunities for bright colors, softness, and transparency.
Since moving to North Carolina I’ve trained in watercolor with some very talented painters, been marketing my paintings, and was thrilled to achieve a Signature Status in the Watercolor Society of North Carolina. My work has been exhibited at local, state, regional shows and recently in several national exhibitions.
I am pleased to be an artist member of the Cary Gallery of Artists, a group of extremely talented artists dedicated to creating art from the heart.
