About the event
Join us on the Final Friday of each month to celebrate local artist. This month features the work of two of our own, Jean Cheely and Mary Ritter. Cary Gallery of Artists' reception is open to the public and is part of the Downtown Cary Final Friday Art Loop.
BREATHING SPACES
Mary Ritter’s mother taught her to embroider and sew as a utilitarian skill she felt Mary would need in order to provide for her family. Later, she chose textiles and threads as her main media, and added dyes, printing, ceramics, beading, and paint to embellish the work.
“We all can recognize them. The vision within our sight enraptures us and removes us from the busy-ness of our lives. So we pause and take a breath. These textile artworks, utilizing texture, color and line, will tell a story, help you remember adventures from your youth, or recreate a scene stored…
