Artist Statement
Wildlife photography is what makes me feel alive. It's what drives me to wake up each day and pushes me to explore the natural world at every opportunity. What began as a curiosity near my home grew into a deep, consuming passion - one that has taken me across continents and ecosystems in pursuit of authentic moments with wild animals. I can't imagine my life without it.
I never try to force an interaction; the goal is always to observe, to respect, and to capture natural behavior without disturbing the subject or its environment. Every image I share is a real photograph of a real wild animal, exactly as it appeared in the field.
I believe that most people never get the chance to witness these moments in person, but through photography, those connections become possible. Every creature I photograph - no matter how small or overlooked - has a life worth seeing and a story worth telling. I strongly believe that when people truly see wildlife, something shifts in them. Connection leads to care, and care is what drives conservation. If my images can make someone pause, feel something, or see the natural world in a new way, and if that inspires even one person to care more about protecting it, then I consider my work a success.
Artist Bio
Hayden Dumaw is an American wildlife photographer who has dedicated himself to photographing animals in their natural habitats across the globe. He discovered his passion for photography while pursuing his degrees in biostatistics, and what began as a curiosity near his home grew into a pursuit that has taken him across many different continents and ecosystems. What draws him most to wildlife photography are the details that are easy to miss if you're not paying attention. He maintains a strict no-AI policy: every image is a real photograph of a real wild animal, exactly as it appeared in the field. His work has been featured by National Geographic.
