Sara Roberts is a certified High School Visual Arts teacher and Nationally Board Certified in art. She began her art career when she earned her K-12 Visual Arts Teaching Certification in 2012.
Roberts uses her own photographs from various places in North Carolina to create vibrant mixed media collage. Images are cataloged on the back of each piece, and if the viewer looks closely, they may begin to recognize well known images from museums, murals, historical places, restaurants and the like in the photo pieces found in the works of art. Larger pieces take up to 80 hours to complete start to finish. Roberts works to create simplistic works that draw the viewer in and help them connect with images from the state of North Carolina . Her ceramic work also reflects brilliant colors captured from nature. She creates adorable clay mushrooms and ornaments.
Roberts’ work has been shown at North Ridge Country Club in Raleigh, Ameriprise in Raleigh, Morgan Street Food Hall in Raleigh, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science’s Nature Gallery, the Renaissance Arts Center in Wake Forest, Wake Med North Gallery and The Faith Gallery in Youngsville, VAE Raleigh shows, The North Carolina Museum of Art store and the Cary Gallery of Art. She currently works at Wake Forest High School, teaching visual arts, textiles and printmaking. She also works for Artsplosure, Raleigh Little Theater, the Wake Forest Renaissance Center and Pearson, all in an effort to promote the arts.
