The Small Treasures Exhibition showcases some of the best small format artwork being created in North Carolina. North Carolina has a rich and vibrant arts community that stretches from the mountains in the west through the Piedmont, to the coast. 

 

Applications open January 1, 2022 

All submissions due by March 1, 2022. 

 

The juried exhibition is open to all North Carolina artists producing small format 2D and 3D artwork.

Meet our Juror: Dr. Jane Steelman 

 

Born in Winston-Salem, NC, Jane D. Steelman worked toward a degree in Art at Appalachian State University. She studied under Bill Dunlap in drawing and painting as well as Clyde Owen in Ceramics. She is certified in art education for K-12 and taught high school Advanced Digital Photography and AP Art History. She now teaches private art lessons in her home studio. Dr. Steelman currently serves as North Carolina Pastel Society.

Dr. Steelman works in various media including pastels, charcoal, acrylic, oils, alcohol inks and stained glass. She enjoys the vibrant colors found in alcohol inks and stained glass and the blending qualities of pastel and oils. Her work varies from photorealistic charcoals and pastels to abstract landscapes in acrylics and alcohol inks. Dr. Steelman’s work can be found in a myriad of public and private art collections and has been seen in numerous exhibitions; local, state and international. 

 

ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS 

​

  • Artists must be at least 18 years old and residents of North Carolina. 

  • Size Restrictions: 

    • 2D work must be NO LARGER THAN 13 X 13" on any side, including mat and frame. 

    • 3D work must be NO LARGER THAN 12 X 12” in any dimension. 

    • All work must be for sale.
